This one time, on an airplane

So flying from Denver to St Louis was a complete NIGHTMARE.  The airport was ridiculously busy, we went through security TWICE (we forgot to check our baggage-oops).  The flight was fully booked and we were exhausted from the get go-M worked a 12 hour shift right before we left.  The row behind us was a teen mom with a screaming infant named Drake.  Oh and did I mention the flight was delayed for weather?  The plane didn't even show up at the gate until 30 minutes AFTER we were supposed to take off.  I was thrilled.

The trip home, now thats another store entirely!  Southwest is the obvious choice for a young couple paying off dumb debt and trying to save for the future.  Sure, the unassigned seats are pretty annoying, but you deal when you only pay like $50 each way.  Checking in early can really work in your favor...or so we have learned!  You can't beat the free baggage check too.

We get to Lambert Airport (St Louis) and the airport is quite literally dead.  The shops are closing, the terminals are bare and even security takes less than a minute to get through.  Yes, St Louis even has the "pat down" body scanners.  We had a 6pm flight, we get to our gate and wait, and wait and wait.  Usually about 25 til expected take off, you start to see the gate fill up.  That never happened for this flight.  There were eight people sitting at the gate and when they started calling to board all eight of us got up.  We board and look around, all eight of us realizing this may just be the best flight EVER.

Since passengers were so scarce and the flight attendants were so "over" the day, we had a pretty good time! We got full soda's/booze (I know right?!), several packets of crackers and peanuts and the flight attendants even helped us take some pictures.  The pilot was quite the jokester and we all got to stretch out in our own aisle.  I was pretty sad to see the 2 hour flight come to an end.  We needed a good flight to revive our faith in Southwest...SUCCESS!

Its the little things in life ;)
