{Halloween!}

First Halloweens are so much fun!

Surprise surprise, my referral request for an MRI was denied.  Ya.  I'm pretty frustrated, but hopefully a call into my p.a. tomorrow will fix things.  Wishful thinking, right?  I just need to find out why I feel so "off" an what's causing my neckpain and other weird issues.  Ugh.  Sorry for being a downer again.

{pumpkin patch, pirates & poop}

We went to a pumpkin patch about 30 minutes outside of the mile high.  It was nice to get out of the rat race for the afternoon.  There is a large pirate ship at the exit off of I-70 and its pretty clear that they love that theme.  All the signs had some sort of ship garb "this way matey's", etc.  We didn't really understand what pirates had to do with pumpkins, but whatev.

It snowed yesterday so we came equipped with coats, hats and blankets for the babes.  We forgot extra layers for ourselves, but we managed.  In the shade it was super cold.  The shade is also where we found evidence of yesterday's snow.  We pretty much stayed out of the shade :)

This place was pretty neat.  There was a whole little Halloween village!  Other attractions included a corn maze, hay rides and even a HAUNTED hay ride for those brave enough to come after dark.  I'd love to do that sometime, but I'm not ready to leave the babes with a sitter yet.  Maybe next year?

The babies, all snuggled in their stroller, promptly fell asleep.  I was pretty bummed because the whole reason for us coming to the pumpkin patch was to get some cute hay bale/pumpkin/corn maze pics.  Well as usual, they had other plans :)  That's ok, we snuck some gourds and pumpkins into the stroller for a photo op with our sleeping sweeties.

Around 3pm the crazy Colorado winds picked up and it was WAY too cold to be outside any longer.  There are no trees in that part of CO, so nothing to break the winds.  Speaking of wind, Friday we had record breaking winds sweep through.  Around noon they recorded 65 mph!  It blew our garbage cans and my front lawn decor all over the place.

We get home, feed the babies and M stands up.  He says "I think Coach pooped on me".  I look at the wet spot on his thigh and pass it off as Coach's usual pee leak.  M starts to change his diaper, pulls off his overalls and there's poop from his stomach to his socks.  Holy SHIT.  Literally.  Panic washes over M's face.  We look at each other, expecting the other to take charge and figure out what to do.

I head to the kitchen sink and start clearing dishes out of one side.  M is holding Coach over the counter by the armpits as the poor kid tries relentlessly to kick out of his grasp.  We got him stripped, wiped him-poop fell to the floor despite our careful efforts and into the sink.  He, none the wiser, splashed and played like it was any other bath.  We soaped him up and got him out and dressed.

I was walking out the door to Target as this happened so I jokingly asked M if I should wait around to see if Fancy had any tricks up her sleeve.  He laughed and shooed me out the door.  Not 20 minutes later, I get a frantic phone call from him.  You guessed it, round TWO!  Fancy had an identical blow out and also pooped down to her socks.  How does this happen?!

Needless to say, it was a FULL day.  The babies are having their last bottle and we're hitting the HAY ;)

*I got these at a baby second hand store in the area.  I paid $4.99 for Coach's froggy costume and $5.99 for Fancy's ladybug costume.  For an outfit they'll wear ONCE, I'm ecstatic about those prices.  I usually check it out about once a month or once every couple weeks.  I tend to spend about $35-$50/visit.  This time I bought:

2 Halloween costumes
2 long sleeve Children's Place logo shirts (one for each baby)
2 Gymboree sweaters (one for each baby)
2 Carter's outfits-long sleeve shirt and pants (one for each baby)
2 Baby Gap long sleeve logo onesies (one for each baby)

2 Circo (Target brand) long sleeve onesies)

In the past I've gotten never worn shoes (still had the tags), never used Dr Browns bottles (still wrapped), in addition to a buttload of clothes.  They sell brand new babylegs-never worn (from the dealer) and handmade bows that I just adore.  They make it WAY to easy to have every pair of BL available :)  When I'm done, I pick out the pieces I don't want to keep for the next baby and sell them back for $ or credit.  They also have a seemingly endless supply of pack n plays, bumbos, strollers, car seats, excersaucers, baby carriers (tons of bjorns and I've seen several ergos) and mountains of books and toys.  I've never left empty handed.  

I love a bargain and when shopping for clothes for twins, bargains are a MUST.  I also tend to find great deals at Children's Place (pretty good coupons and almost always free shipping on their website), TJ Maxx, JC Penney and Target.  The last two places I listed have the $5 tables (sometimes less-I got almost their entire 3-6 summer wardrobe at JCP when they marked down their $5 table to $1.50/item, I spent $30 and saved over $100).  The clothes are cute and good quality, at least that I've found.  Given the limited time they will actually wear each size, I just can't pay $20+ for a single item of clothing.  It seems like such a waste.  Walmart also has a $2.50/$3 table, but I've only seen a handful of things I liked and they didn't wash/wear all that well.  The shorts sucked, but the shirts/onesies did ok.  

I should do a babythings review when I have some time.  At present, I have two VERY constipated screaming children.  Effing bananas.  

Happy Halloween!

Halloween is here AGAIN.  Kind of insane how fast time goes, isn't it?  I didn't dress up this year, but here are the last 2 years.  

This was Halloween 2009.  I was a devil...obviously.  It was a last minute costume, in my defense, I got all the parts like hours before I went out.  A hooked tail, pitch fork and devil horns = the easiest costume ever!  It was a fun night!

This was Halloween 2008.  Just like last years costume, cat ears, a collar and tail make for a really easy costume :)  It was one of my faves though, I make a fun cat!  That was my last celebration in Kansas City :(  We moved a couple weeks later.  Sad.  BUT the girl in this picture, Abby, got a job out here in Denver and moved here this summer.  Fate, eh!?

This sounds really awful, but we didn't get any candy and I plan on ignoring the doorbell this evening.  M is on TDY for a couple days and I think I'm going to take a bath, pop in a scary movie and fall asleep early :)  Nellie already has a jump start, she's snoring on the couch next to me.  Sweet puppy!  

Speaking of puppies, anyone seen the ASPCA's new commercial?  Way too sad.  They talk about people beating, kicking and leaving animals for dead :(  I'll never understand why there is such cruelty in the world.  It makes me squeeze my cute, healthy, happy rescue pets a little tighter everyday.  Elvis was a farm cat from my mom's farm, but Nellie and Charlie were rescues.  Both came to us VERY thin and dirty.  I'm happy to report that both are thriving and FAT...well, poor Charlie will never be fat.  He was extremely malnourished when we adopted him and that affected his size.  He'll never been full sized, but we think he's pretty cute in his eternal kitten state :)
