Our *first* Thanksgiving!

Ok, so its not our official first Thanksgiving, but its our first one cooking and making our own traditions.  Originally, I was sad we couldn't go home.  I'm still a little sad that we couldn't be with our families, but we've been cooking all day and the turkey only has about 2 hours left.  I'm excited we got to spend today together, just the two of is (well, we'll see others later).

This is what is currently happening at our house :)
Nellie and daddy crapped out on me while the turkey is cooking.  He worked the night shift last night and still stayed up to help me cook, he's just about as wonderful as they come!  I'm letting him sleep until its time to eat.  Plus, there are some amazing Disney movies on the Family Channel that I wouldn't be able to watch if he was awake ;)

Green Bean Casserole, Corn Casserole and the sweet potatoes are DONE!  I've sampled all three and they came out just perfect...for a woman who doesn't cook and is currently nauseated by food, thats pretty damn good.  Please excuse the dirty stove, we've been working hard.

Here's what we have left-Stove Top, mashed potatoes & gravy, rolls and of course pumpkin and pecan pie for desert with whip cream.  I can't wait to dig in!  We had monkey bread for breakfast, YUM!  For those of you not familiar with monkey bread, I think its a southern thing.  Its basically a massive cinnamon roll with caramel and walnuts.  Its divine :)

Last but certainly not least, here's our beautiful bird!  She's got about another hour and a half until she's done. Our mouths are watering!

I have so much to be thankful for this year!  Last year we celebrated Thanksgiving in the hospital.  M was in ICU with a mystery illness.  We got to eat well though, thanks to some amazing women!  Military wives that I am friends with all chipped in so our family could eat a wonderful dinner in the hospital.  I'll never forget their generosity and love :)  This year M's healthy and we have so many wonderful things going on in our lives.  We are truly blessed.
