{The one about The Daddy}

Its after midnight, so technically Friday morning.  This evening the daddy has a 15 page paper due for his grad school course.  He now sits diligently behind me at the kitchen table, scribbling away, checking his notes carefully as he goes.  In just 6 hours he has to be at work.

Tonight he came home, arms full of grocery bags, to embrace two very excited-to-see-him little ones.  He dropped the groceries carefully in the center of the kitchen floor and scooped up his babies.  One baby throws his arms around the daddy who hung the moon, so glad that he's home to play, while the other baby fights and wiggles, pretending she wants nothing to do with him.  When our backs are turned, she lays her little blonde head on his chest in a tender moment before shoving off to play again.

As I put away groceries he played with his babies and we caught up on the day.  We had dinner, played some more and put our sweet ones down to bed for the night.  Even with the looming deadline and having averaged 3 hours of sleep/night this week, he cleans the kitchen.  He brews a pot of coffee and finally sits down to finish his final paper.

I'm proud of him.  I proud of the father he is.  Of how well he handles the pressures of being in a very VERY high tempo command (while excelling every step of the way).  Of how well he's doing in his grad school classes and generally of the man he is today.  Life hasn't been easy for him and yet he perseveres.  No, he rocks it.

Daddy, we're proud of you.  You're working so hard for our family, to make sure we have the best life possible.  You're incredible.  We're so blessed that you're ours.  We love you.

And don't worry.  As soon as this paper is turned in, we'll make sure you get a weekend full of uninterrupted sleep :)
