We saw the Doc and he's sure her wrist has a small fracture...somewhere in there. He gave us a few options. He said that we could get an x-ray and to confirm and go down to orthopedics and get a cast put on or go the wait and see route. He said babies heal at break neck speed and that he's supportive of letting her just heal. He said the fracture isn't major and it doesn't need to be set, so there's little point in putting her in a cast other than to keep that area from re-injuring. He noticed that she was holding her arm out of the way and being protective of it. He said she was, in essence, already doing what a cast would do. Needless to say, we're going the wait and see route.
I don't know if this is the right or wrong decision, but it is what it is and if we change our minds we can go back and go the x-ray/cast route. We're talking small fracture here. I'm sort of feeling a little like a dead beat mom, but the Doc assured me that this was the route he'd take as well.
We're going to keep a close eye on her and that wrist, but already today she's using it more and she's completely herself. She's still holding it back and not putting weight on it, but it does look like she's improving. If she gets worse, we're going straight back to get that x-ray/cast. Poor sweet gal. When the Doc walked in Fancy dove right into his arms and snuggled him. A stranger. Never ever seen that child do that before. Ever. Before we left, Coach did the same thing. I was hesitant to see a unit doc, but he was absolutely fabulous! Both my babies loved him and he was patient with us and all our questions and my eccentricities. Two BIG thumbs up from this skeptical lady.
So that's it. I might have another update if she doesn't show huge improvement in the next day or so. I'm not going to let my baby walk around in pain. For now we'll give her a smidge of baby pain reliever and pray it heals fast.
